Cut a Clip on the Timeline

Make a cut to delete the selected area from the Timeline. You can cut within a single clip or across multiple clips.

Splits differ from cuts in that splits do not delete any content from the clips on the Timeline; they separate the clip into two parts.

Edits completed on the Timeline do not affect the clips in the Clip Bin. The Clip Bin maintains the original files.
To make a cut on the Timeline
  1. Lock the tracks on the Timeline that contain clips or elements you do not want to cut. See Lock a Track on the Timeline.
  2. Select an area to cut by dragging the seek bar on the Timeline.
  3. Click the Cut Selection button .
