On the Settings window you can specify the count units, set transparency and showing duration parameters for results window, customize count shortcuts, adjust count and general ClipCount mode parameters.
To open Settings window double-click the system tray icon or select Settings command from the menu, which appears on right-clicking the icon.
Units
With ClipCount you can count:
In the Display ClipCount results in: section of the Settings window you can set the units for counting by selecting the correspondent check box (several check boxes can be selected).
To create new custom units, edit or delete the existing ones, click Custom: button. In the displayed Edit custom count units window...
...you can create your own count units, edit existing ones (for instance, change number of characters in a line or in a page) or delete them. To create a new unit click New button. To edit the existing unit, select it from the list and click Edit button. To delete the existing unit, select it from the list and click Delete button.
All count units in ClipCount are derived from three basic atomic values:
Note: It is important not to alter size of default values, i.e. word should consist of one word, character with space should consist of one character with space, and one character without space should consist of one character without space.
Shortcuts
The default shortcut for Copy and Count function (i.e. copying the selected text to clipboard and performing count)) is Ctrl+C. Using the drop-down menu provided on the Settings window you can set it to Ctrl+A/../Z or Ctrl+Alt+A/.../Z.
If you want simply to count the text from clipboard (for example, when you have sent it to clipboard using Copy command) you can use additional Count function. Its default shortcut is Ctrl+Alt+C. Using the drop-down menu provided on the Settings window you can set it to Ctrl+A/../Z or Ctrl+Alt+A/.../Z.
Note: Shortcuts for Count and Copy and Count functions must be different.
Select Skip numbers option if you want ClipCount to distinguish numbers in the text and display total results with numbers included and excluded.

Results
The count result is displayed in the pop-up window in bottom right part of the screen. Using corresponding regulation bars on the Settings window you can customize the level of transparency of the results window (it can vary from Opaque to Transparent (slightly visible))
and the duration of showing the results (for how long the pop-up results window will be visible), it can vary from Never (the window does not appear at all) to Forever (results window stays on top until you close it manually); extreme exact values are 1 second and 20 seconds:
ClipCount mode
Click Disabled button from the upper part of Settings window to disable the shortcuts for counting (you can only perform counts using menu, which opens on right-clicking the system tray icon). To make shortcuts active and counting available again click Enabled button.
Select Start with Windows option if you want ClipCount to become active automatically on starting MS Windows.
