Creating a Project

All of the T-Window Collection, except T-Window for Clipboard, use a similar project structure for translation. The settings of each project are stored in a text file that has a *.prj extension.

Note: T-Window for Clipboard simply pastes the text you have copied into the source field. You then copy the target text using Copy Target and the Paste command into the document that you are translating.

To create a project:

  1. Start the T-Window for the file format that you want to translate.

  2. If Translator's Workbench is not running, T-Window asks you to start Translator's Workbench. The Connect to Workbench dialog box opens. Click Yes to connect to Translator's Workbench. The translation memory opened is the last translation memory that you have used.

  3. Select New from the File menu. The New Project dialog box opens.

  4. Enter the path and filename for the project (*.prj) file or click Browse to open the Save dialog box and choose where you want the project to be stored. If you do not enter a path, the file is saved in your default Windows folder.

  5. Enter the path and filename of the source file you want to translate or click Browse to select it.

  6. Enter the path and filename of the target file. This is the file that will contain the translated text. T-Window prompts you with a default file name for the target file based on the source file name and path. Click Browse to change the name of the target file and location where the file is to be saved.

  7. Click OK. The new project is created and the first translatable line appears in the source window.

  8. Click Open/Get to start the translation.
