Some Windows programs require that you insert a floppy disk into drive A, either while installing or using the program. Although you may be able to accomplish this with a physical floppy, there are some situations where a floppy image is necessary.
For example, suppose you want to install Quark XPress on a notebook computer. Quark XPress requires a floppy disk that works together with the installer CD-ROM. If the notebook computer does not have a floppy drive, a floppy image can be used instead.
