There are some situations where you might want to create a new disk image. You may want to create a new boot disk, and install your own OS. You may want to create a secondary disk image for additional storage space. Or you may want to duplicate an existing boot disk, for use with a new PC.
Virtual PC provides the Virtual Disk Wizard, which walks you through the steps of creating a new disk. The Virtual Disk Wizard also allows you to create a floppy disk image, or examine or modify an existing floppy or hard disk image.

When creating a new hard disk, or modifying an existing hard disk, there are a number of disk characteristics that you must specify. The following table gives additional information about these characteristics.
A fixed size disk will consume the entire disk space at the time that you create the disk image. If you are concerned about security, you may want to clear the disk of data at the time that you create it. To do this, select Zero Disk Image.

Note: The Virtual
Disk Wizard does not install the operating
system on the disk.
The
amount of space consumed when you create the
disk will depend on the disk type you have
selected.
