Installing the OS

If you wish to install a PC operating system, such as Windows, DOS, or Linux, on the boot drive of a guest PC, follow the directions below.

To install a new OS on a new disk image for a new PC:

  1. Create a new disk image. See: Creating a disk image

Alternately: You can skip step one, and create a disk image during step two.

  2. Create a new guest PC using the PC Setup Wizard.

Note: If you did not create a disk in step one, you can create a new disk from within the PC Setup Wizard.

  3. Start up the new guest PC.
  4. Insert a bootable CD or floppy, and install the operating system. See below for specific information about the operating system you plan to install.
  5. If you have installed a version of Windows, install the Virtual PC Additions. See: Installing the VPC additions.
