Installing the
VPC additions
Virtual PC provides
a number of features that integrate a Windows guest PC
with your host PC. These features are provided by the
Virtual PC Additions; they are not native to Windows. The
Additions are available for Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000,
Millennium, and XP.
The Virtual PC
Additions must be installed manually on the guest PC boot
disk after the operating system has been installed. If
you are using an OS Pack from Connectix, the Additions
are pre-installed on the boot disk included with the OS
Pack.
The features
provided by the Virtual PC Additions include:
- Drag
and drop
- Folder
sharing
- Integrated mouse
- Joystick support
- International keyboard
support
- DOS
CD-ROM support
- Optimized video
drivers
- VPC
helper (includes SyncTime)
Installing the Additions
To
install the Additions:
- Bring the
guest PC window to the front.
- From the guest PC menu, click PC.
- From the menu, click Install/Update Additions. The Virtual PC installation program appears on the guest PC.
- Read the license agreement and if you agree, select I agree to the terms of this agreement.
- Click Next.
- An Information window will appear with the details of the features the Additions add. Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to proceed with the Additions installation.
Important: The additions require a restart of the guest PC before they will function. Click Finish to complete the installation and restart the guest PC.
