Use items on the Priority tab on a Windows host lets you determine both the priority that the Windows process scheduler gives to your virtual machines and the visibility of ongoing snapshot operations.
Select items under Process priority to set the priority that the Windows process scheduler gives to your virtual machines. This affects the performance of your virtual machines and your Windows host. For more information on process priority, see Changing Process Priorities for One Virtual Machine.
To change the priority of all of your virtual machines, select from the drop-down lists.
You can also override these global settings and change the process priority for a specific virtual machine. See Changing Process Priorities for One Virtual Machine.
Under Snapshots, you can determine whether your snapshots are taken in the foreground or background. Taking a snapshot is not an instantaneous process. Enabling background snapshots allows you to continue working while Workstation completes the snapshot process invisibly in the background.
Select Take and restore snapshots in the background to enable background snapshots. The status of an in-progress background snapshot is displayed in the lower left corner of the Workstation window.
Note: You must wait until Workstation finishes taking a snapshot before you engage in any more snapshot activity.
