Database Operations

Top  Previous  Next

Database in AnyLexic contains all your dictionaries in a single database file. You can use your local database file, or share terminology with your colleagues, by accessing remote AnyLexic Database, located on AnyLexic Server. Thus there are two general types of databases, Local and Server:

Local Database – this terminology database is stored locally on your PC. It can be accessed and managed only with the help of AnyLexic installed on your PC.

Server Database – this terminology database is stored on AnyLexic Server PC – or a computer on which AnyLexic Server has been installed. Server database can only be managed with the help of AnyLexic Server on Server PC. Server database can be accessed with the help of AnyLexic, provided that AnyLexic user has a valid login and password defined by administrator of AnyLexic Server.

All the database operations can be accessed through Database menu.

·Local on ... – opens your Local Database. Use this option if you do not have (or do not require) access to online databases on AnyLexic Server.
·Server on ... (your local PC name) – opens Server Database which is located on AnyLexic Server installed on your local PC. Use this option if you have AnyLexic Server installed on your local PC.
·Server: LAN – opens Server Database which is located on AnyLexic Server installed in your local area network. Use this option to access terminology database on AnyLexic Server through local area network.
·Server: Internet – opens Server Database which is located on AnyLexic Server installed on remote PC and runs as part of AnyLexic Server on another computer. AnyLexic Server is not located in a LAN and can be accessible through the Internet using IP address of the server PC.

noteNote: Only one database can be opened with AnyLexic on a local PC at a time.

·Manage – opens local Database Manager window which can be used for your local database maintenance.
·Active users – displays the list of all other users, logged in to the same AnyLexic Server.
