Top  Previous  Next

Your Local Database in AnyLexic contains all your dictionaries in a single database file. All the database operations can be performed with the help of Database Manager window.

To open Database Manager window click Database > Manage menu.

Database Manager window displays basic database information:

·AnyLexic Database string displays full path to the AnyLexic database file, which location is \...\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AIT\AnyLexic2.0\Database\anylexic.fdb. This file contains all of your local dictionaries.

noteNote: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ folder may be hidden. You have to make it visible first to find database file.

·Database Version string displays the version of AnyLexic database. Version number consists of AnyLexic version (e.g. 2.0) and database version (e.g. 1.0.). This field is reserved to differentiate between database structure updates within the same version of AnyLexic software.
·Disc Space Left string displays the information about the free space left on the disk, where AnyLexic database is located.

Database Manager window can be used to perform 6 basic database operations:

Backup – backs up your database in a separate file.

Quick Optimization – conducts a routine database maintenance, increasing the working speed of large databases.

Check Integrity – this option is used to locate and report any errors in the database structure.

Restore – use this option to restore your database from a backup copy.

Run Update Script – update scripts are used to update database version. Normally database is updated automatically, each time you install a newer build of %PROGNAME%>

Repair – repairs errors in your current database (uncovered during integrity check) using a backup copy.

noteNote: Database managing requires that AnyLexic stops any other database operations. When the Database Manager window is open, AnyLexic main window becomes blank.
