Understanding the Snapshot Tree
The snapshot tree in the top of the Snapshot Manager window displays a hierarchy of all snapshots currently present on this virtual machine. The You Are Here icon represents the current state of the virtual machine.
You can act directly on the snapshots in the snapshot tree.
- Click a snapshot to select that snapshot. To select more than one snapshot, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the snapshots one by one. You can use one of the command buttons on the selected snapshot or snapshots.
- Double-click a snapshot to revert the virtual machine to that snapshot.
- Right-click a snapshot to display a pop-up menu with commands available to that snapshot.
- Select Go to Snapshot to open the selected snapshot as though you had clicked the Go To Snapshot button.
- Select Clone This Snapshot to create a stand-alone virtual machine called a clone. For information on clones, see Snapshot Details.
- Select Delete Snapshot to delete the selected snapshot. This has no effect on existing snapshots taken from the selected snapshot.
- Select Delete Snapshot and Children to delete the selected snapshot and all snapshots based on the selected snapshot.
Note: If a snapshot has been cloned, it becomes locked. If you delete a locked
snapshot, the clone(s) created from that snapshot no longer operates. When you
attempt to delete a locked snapshot, a warning dialog box appears asking for
confirmation before deleting the locked snapshot.
- Scroll the cursor over a snapshot to display the full name of that snapshot. This is helpful when a long name is truncated in the snapshot tree.
