System (Configuration)

Select the System tab from the Configuration Dialog Box to control these options:

General

Modifying the following system options will affect all users who log on to this computer.

• The Associate WinZip with archives checkbox determines whether Windows will use WinZip® to open archives from My Computer, Windows Explorer, most e-mail programs, etc. WinZip can associate itself with the following archive types: ZIP, ARC, ARJ, B64, BHX, BZ, BZ2, CAB, GZ, HQX, LZH, MIM, RAR, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TBZ2, TGZ, TZ, UU, UUE, XXE and Z. If you check this option, WinZip associates itself with all of the listed types. If you uncheck this option, WinZip removes all of its associations. When the option is checked, you can click Associations to control WinZip's associations with specific archive types. See Windows Associations for more information on associations.

  You can also specify an alternate extension for Zip files by checking the check box and typing the extension in the space provided.

• If the Include WinZip Quick Pick in the taskbar tray checkbox is checked, the WinZip Quick Pick icon appears in the system taskbar tray. You can use this icon to open WinZip, access recently used archives, etc.
• If the Include WinZip in the Start menu checkbox is selected, WinZip is automatically added to the Taskbar Start menu. Uncheck this option to remove WinZip from the Start menu.
• If the Include WinZip on the desktop checkbox is selected, a shortcut to WinZip is added to the desktop. Uncheck this option to remove the WinZip shortcut from the desktop.
• The When a WinZip job file is double-clicked allows you to control the action taken when a WinZip job file is doubled-clicked. There are currently two items from which to choose.
• Edit the job opens the job you double-clicked in the Job Wizard.
• Run the job allows you to start jobs just by double-clicking them. The first time that you double-click a job, you may receive a message warning you about running jobs with which you are not familiar (if the Prompt before running WinZip jobs option is selected). This message dialog does have options to not display this message again for this particular job, run the job or edit the job.
• The Associated Image Viewer options determine the viewer to be used when an image is double-clicked. If a supported image type has a program associated with it, then double clicking on the image in WinZip uses the Internal Image Viewer...
• Instead of the associated program. Select this option to use the WinZip Internal Image Viewer for all image types.
• In place of Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (Windows Photo Gallery for Windows Vista). Select this option to use the WinZip Internal Image Viewer only when the image type is associated with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer or Windows Photo Gallery (Windows Vista).
• Never, always use associated program. Select this option to only use the image type's associated program. The WinZip Internal Image Viewer is only used when a supported image type has no program association.
