XnView offers a variety of functions to display and process images. Here is a list of the most important functions:
XnView can process a variety of picture formats. XnView can read over 400 different picture formats, for example:
GIF, TIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, IFF, IMG, WMF, ICO, ...
The XnView Browser is similar to Windows Explorer. It lets you navigate the directory structure, displaying all pictures in the current directory in a miniature view (Thumbnail). Pictures can be 'double-clicked' opened.
Standard File Operations such as copying, moving and deletion of files can be performed whilst in the Browser.
XnView can display pictures in configurable Slide Shows. You can also display pictures directly from CDs (Self-Starting Slide-Shows from CD), creating an electronic photograph album.
Copy complete pictures or just parts of them to and from the Clipboard.
Open and exchange pictures with other applications using Drag & Drop.
XnView can convert a list of images from one format to another e.g. BMP to JPG using Multiple Image Convert. In addition, XnView can also during conversion, simultaneously apply one or more image filters and effects.
XnView can join images horizontally or vertically to create panorama images.
XnView is extremely flexible and allows a high degree of optimisation and default settings. This means it is easily tailored to individual needs and preferences.
XnView can together with Total Commander® be used as a File Administration tool.
